A disciple of Jesus is one who, first and foremost, is continually growing in their love of God. Everything else flows out this. The motivation for our love for God is His love for us (1 John 4:15-17) and the proof that we love God is found in our obedience to Him (1 John 5:3). This obedience is fundamentally about learning to trust him and submit to Him in every area of our life. It’s a daily process of learning and growing that isn’t completed until we one day see Jesus face to face.
