Whether we say it or not, most of us expect that when we obey God the result will be that things will get easier. In fact, if we’re really honest, we often believe that if we obey God he owes us. Chapter 5 of Exodus shows us that obedience and ease don’t always go so neatly together. Sometimes when we obey God things can get harder. When this happens we can take comfort in the fact that God is working out a plan for our good and his glory that is bigger than we often see in the moment.
