Make us One (John 17:20-23)

In his last hours on earth Jesus could have called out to the Father to pray for any number of things and what he chose to pray for was for his church, for those who would come to know Him as Saviour and Lord. Specifically he prayed that we would be one. Praying for unity is dangerous, it means sacrifices our autonomy and submitting ourselves to the constraints of community, but when we live as one the world gets a glimpse of the transformative love of our triune God.
