Big Idea: Jesus uses our failures to deepen our dependence on Him.
After coming down from the mountain, Jesus is met by a desperate father whose son is tormented by a powerful demon. The disciples had tried to cast it out, but they could not. In this moment, Jesus reveals both His unmatched authority and the weakness of His followers.
This passage reminds us that failure is not the end of discipleship. Sometimes Jesus allows our limitations to be exposed so that our confidence shifts away from ourselves and back onto Him. He shapes His people not only through victories, but also through the moments that humble us and teach us to depend on His power.
When our strength runs out, Christ’s authority remains.
