A Message on Love for Weddings and Wednesdays (1 Corinthians 13:1-13) | Imperfect

Although this text is most commonly associated with weddings Paul’s instruction here is not limited to how husbands and wives ought to love one another. In this chapter Paul is laying out a definition of love that is meant to be applied not only to how believers relate to their spouses but in all their relationships.

Sermon Notes:

  • A More Excellent Way
  • “…if it alone is kept, it is sufficient.”
  • Eloquence without love is nothing
  • Prophecy knowledge and faith without love are nothing
  • Altruism and sacrifice without love is nothing
  • The measure of true spirituality is never the gifts of the Spirit. The true measure of spirituality is the fruit of the Spirit.
  • “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
  • Love Never Fails
  • You are fully known
  • Love is the Greatest
