Pride is corrosive. It gnaws away at our relationships with others and our relationships with God until, sooner or later, everything collapses. In James 4:6 we are told that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
In Psalm 131 David offers up a simple prayer where he abandons pride and instead chooses the peace that comes from recognizing his limitations and trusting in the Lord.
